Where to start.....

....Ah yes, Tiger Woods. Seriously, who gives a rats ass anymore. The guy cheated on his wife (granted, with a fair number of women), but if he wasn't the poster child for golf with millions of dollars in endorsements no one would care.

This is a matter for the civil courts, not the mass media. The only reason there is a media circus around this one(...still) is because we are obsessed as a society with celebrities. If your next store neighbor went and fucked around on his wife, would your local TV station be knocking on his door step?

No? I didn't think so.

Our obsession with celebrities is unhealthy. They may be interesting people with a crap-ton of money, but they are still people with their own problems and flaws. On the red carpet, magazines, on television, we get the impression that celebrities are somehow perfect, superhuman creatures that are beyond reproach. This is simply not the case. It is also why as soon as the media detects even the slightest flaw (in tiger's case: his infidelity) it becomes a feeding frenzy.

Do you know who is responsible for the many media circuses? You are.

Yes, you. The consumer. Big media would not even bother with stories on celebrity intrigue and betrayal if there wasn't a market for it. By being that market, we have the ability to destroy lives and careers with total anonymity. To be honest, its not right. They should have to same rights to privacy as everyone else on this planet. Why don't we find a better obsession.

Like our health......but that's for another post.
